If you’re anything like me, then you have ankara fabrics from months, maybe even years ago. Sometimes, you simply love a print, but don’t know what to sew with it. Other times, it might be an ‘aso-ebi’ that you’ve used for a function, but what’s left over isn’t substantial enough to give out, but too much to discard. The solution to such a quandary is simply to sew something you adore, that you know you would keep wearing over and over again.

For me, it’s a playsuit!

I absolutely love playsuits (or rompers). They scream ease, fun and playfulness and just might be my favourite item of clothing (until I need the bathroom… lol!). The choice of ankara shows how easily you can incorporate this ubiquitous fabric into your daily wardrobe, while staying young, fresh and fun. This is a look that can easily be worn to the park, beach, movies, lunch or a casual date.

I decided on a fun updo to show off the detail at the back.

Fashion tip: A playsuit or romper is short – always! Once it gets past your knees, it becomes a jumpsuit.

Style tip: you can style a playsuit as a top, especially with a skater skirt, culottes or palazzo pants.

I chose the title ‘MARCH PAST’ because I had this shoot in March, and it is long past. I realise that I’ve had other posts up since then, but it’s still been more than a month since my last post. I promise, that’s all about to change…
