Sometimes in life, you get what you want… almost, but not quite. So while you’re appreciative of what you do get, you can’t shake off that feeling that it should have been better or more amazing; basically, just more!

It’s not easy, but I’m learning to appreciate the life I live, while being hopeful for the kind of life I want to live. That way, I can focus on changing my life for the better, without being bitter about my shortcomings. Ultimately, it’s really about finding the balance between contentment and unrealistic expectations.

Fashion wise, this outfit is an ode to that feeling. It’s almost all black, but not quite. It features a simple yet sophisticated chiffon off-the-shoulder blouse by my amazing tailor @oluchilkpemba, and skinny pants; both black.

I decided to pair the all black look with accents of nude and wine: my go-to straw bag and platform wedges.  Finally, I styled my hair in a topknot (bun) and accessorized with my DIY gold necklace and an adorable Blair Waldorf-esque headband to add a touch of glam to my outfit.

The overall look is simple, fun and dressy-casual and is the perfect lunch or hang-out outfit that can easily be transformed for an entertaining night-out, particularly if you swap the shoes for something edgier/dressier.
