Although it’s basically the end of January, this is my first post of 2019, so I will to begin by wishing you all a happy and prosperous new year 🙂.

Over the holiday, it was really important to me to relax, have fun and re-align myself with my goals and dreams, and I’m so happy to say that I truly did. As a result, I decided to share some ideas with you guys about putting 2019 in perspective, basically 5 steps to achieving your goals this year:

  1. You can still start now.
  2. Have set goals and write them down.
  3. Stay focused and review your plans.
  4. Pace yourself.
  5. Dare to be different, unique, and take a chance on something uncommon that you feel deep in your gut.

1. You can still start now:

Firstly, ignore the general misconception that you needed to have started working on your resolutions for the year on or even before the 1st day of January, or at least, the early days, to build enough momentum for the year… that’s ridiculous. If you have done that, that’s great. But if you haven’t, there’s no need to worry. It takes a while to form new habits, but once you’re used to them, as they say, ‘old habits die hard’. So, be rest assured that there’s still time to start working towards achieving your goals this year, but you need to start now. Do not panic, but get serious.

2. Have set goals and write them down:

I know it sounds mundane, but this is really important because it’s the simplest way to set things in perspective. It makes it easier for you to visualize your goals and it also serves as a point of reference, to help keep you on track.

3. Stay focused and review your plans:

It’s easy to lose your focus when you’re trying to do too many things at a time. So try to choose one thing at a time and keep that ball rolling, before moving on to anything else. Also, reviewing your plans against your mode of achieving them frequently  will help you stay focused and not deviate from your plans.

4. Pace yourself:

Remember that you’re not competing with anyone; it’s your life after all. Don’t worry if your progress is slow, as long as you’re sure that you’re putting in the work. Don’t get agitated or stressed out if things aren’t moving as quickly as you anticipated. Remember, there’s nothing wrong with gradual progress and good things take time.

5. Dare to be different, unique, and take a chance on something uncommon that you feel deep in your gut. And most importantly, do not seek for approval or validation from others. It’s definitely a step in the direction of killing your dreams.

I honestly can’t believe that it’s already the end of January. This year feels very special to me and I’m truly excited about 2019. I hope that you are too. Although, I must confess that I’m a little freaked out by how quickly January has gone by. I guess that means I just have to get started on all my plans ASAP before this year comes to an end in a flash.

Do have a great year  🙂
