The beach has always been one of my favourite places in the world. It has always given me a sense of freedom, while providing a place for reflection and meditation simultaneously. It’s definitely a place where I feel the most connected to nature and me at the same time.
Unfortunately, amid the coronavirus (COVID-19), pandemic, it goes without saying that we’ve all been on lockdown in our homes and prevented from visiting our favourite places, like the beach – the refreshing waters, clear and beautiful sand, the breezy atmosphere and carefree fashion… well, the list goes on.
That being said, the fact that I’ve been stuck at home these past few weeks has really given me a rare and golden opportunity to delve into aspects of my life that I had abandoned and focus on re-discovering my hobbies, talents and what I really want to do with my life.
I admit that it’s a bit too early to conclusively declare that things have changed definitely in my life because, let’s face it, it’s easier to focus on new discoveries, rather, re-discoveries, when your life isn’t really busy.
However, I can’t deny that it’s been fun going on this journey and focusing on internal development, as against being worried about what is happening in the world right now.
It’s funny how a few weeks ago, I just wanted everything to stop – I felt like I needed some room to breathe, think and piece my life back together. I felt like I was moving on auto-pilot and I didn’t really have any direction, or any idea where my life was heading.
And now, I am one of those living according to the saying ‘be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it’. While there may be a lot of other things I wish that I could be doing right now, I am so grateful that I’ve had this time to take a step back from everything, and figure out the next steps to take in my life.
So, with everything going on with social distancing and what not, I advise that you take this quarantine/ lockdown time to reflect on life in general. While you get a lot of sleep and eat lots of food, try something new, take an online course, get some exercise in, try that thing you’ve always wanted to do and figure out your purpose in life 😊.
